{"id":2621,"date":"2025-12-18T16:10:49","date_gmt":"2025-12-18T16:10:49","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/sej.org.uk\/dec25\/?p=2621"},"modified":"2025-12-18T16:10:49","modified_gmt":"2025-12-18T16:10:49","slug":"news-3","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/sej.org.uk\/dec2025\/news-3\/","title":{"rendered":"Teacher pay settled for two years"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>The EIS welcomed the recent unanimous decision by the Teachers\u2019 Panel of the Scottish Negotiating Committee for Teachers (SNCT) to accept a 2-year pay offer for Scotland\u2019s teachers. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The decision settles the issue of pay for Scotland\u2019s teachers this year and next, and followed an online consultation with EIS members which indicated 96% of members were in favour of accepting the pay offer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Commenting on the decision, Des Morris, EIS Salaries Convener and Chair of the SNCT Teachers\u2019 Panel said, \u201cThis was a pragmatic decision, which will provide certainty on pay for Scotland\u2019s teachers for a two-year period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIn addition, there is a shared commitment, between all three sides of the SNCT, in the offer to negotiate the terms of a re-opener clause for Year 2 of the deal, to provide inflation protection for teachers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cIt is unfortunate that negotiations on pay have, once again, led to teachers receiving their pay rise late this year.
