Our job’s not one done just for pay,
It’s done for other reasons;
It’s done to watch kids grow and learn
Across the year’s four seasons;
It’s done to build a safety net
For kids who sometimes fall;
It’s done to try encourage kids
Who’ve no time for school at all!
Yes, the holidays are great
(Yet they always feel required),
But money’s not the reason
That, for this job, we got inspired!
But with life’s cost still increasing,
With normal folks being left behind,
We’ve got to take a stand now
Or we’ll just face further grind,
So, with big strikes now a-looming
Know it’s not just about the pay;
It’s so a workforce can afford to live
So they can teach another day
