The new EIS President and Vice President have been confirmed.

The next President will be current Vice-President Mark Smith (North Ayrshire). Mark has been a member of the EIS for 28 years. During this time, he has served on school committees as a staff representative and on the local executive. Over the last five years he has been a member of Council and a member of the Equality, Education and Employment Relations Committees. He is also a current member of the Executive Committee.

Valerie Inkster (Shetland) has been elected as the next EIS Vice-President. Having been a primary teacher for over 25 years, Valerie has been involved with the EIS since the early 2000s. Locally she has served as Assistant Secretary and nationally she has been a member of EIS Council for over 10 years and has served on the Education, Executive, Salaries, SNCT and the emergency sub committees.

Both Ms Inkster and Mr Smith will formally assume their new positions at the EIS AGM in June, when current President Adam Sutcliffe will also move into the post of Ex-President.
