The identities of the next President and Vice-President have been confirmed, following completion of the election process.
The new President elect is Andrene Bamford. Andrene began her career as an English Teacher in 1995, before becoming a Learning Support Teacher in Falkirk in 2003. Ms Bamford has served as the Local Association Secretary for East Dunbartonshire since January 2017. Since becoming LA Secretary, she has been a member of Council and served on numerous national committees including Education, Employment Relations, Salaries and Executive.
The new Vice-President elect is Paula McEwan, a primary teacher from Inverclyde. Paula’s EIS activism started early in her career and she became the Local Association Secretary for Inverclyde in 2017. Ms McEwan is a long-standing member of Council and has served on Executive, Education and Salaries Committees.
Both Ms Bamford and Ms McEwan will formally assume their new roles at the AGM in June, when current President Heather Hughes will move into the post of Ex-President.
